10 Fun Facts About the Power of Promotional Products

  • Dec 25, 2020

Promotional products can have the ability to play a powerful role in building your business and increasing brand awareness. In fact, the first promotional item in US history was a commemorative button made for George Washington in the election of 1789. Due to the success of his campaign, promotional items like almanacs, calendars, rules, and wood specialties slowly became available. We can’t ignore the impact that promotional products can have on our clients. Consider these important statistics:

  1. 8 in 10 people like receiving promotional products…and 7 in 10 wished they received promotional products more often.
  2. Women are more likely to have bags, writing instruments and calendars, whereas men are more likely to own shirts and caps.
  3. Logoed mugs in particular are more effective advertising than radio and television spots; 57 percent of people were able to recall the advertiser on a mug, versus 32 percent of radio and 28 percent of T.V.
  4. Eighty-nine percent of consumers can recall the advertiser of a promotional product they’d received in the last two years.
  5. One of the biggest reasons people decline a promotional item is that they have no use for it. But 79% will pass along promotional products that are no longer valuable to them by regifting, selling, or donating the items – which means more people are exposed to your brand.
  6. Even employees enjoy promotional products. When given branded promotional products by their employer, 59% of employees have a more favorable impression of their workplace.
  7. The top three reasons why people keep promotional products they received are that they were fun, functional and trendy.
  8. Nearly 6 out of 10 people say that they would enter sweepstakes, contests, or raffles to win promotional products.
  9. Advertisers believe in promotional products as well. 70% of ad agencies consider them to be effective or highly effective!
  10. Advertising on bags is not a new concept. Jasper Meek started using burlap bags to promote small businesses in 1896. He was even dubbed the “Father of Promotional Products”!
  11. 75% of consumers say that promotional products make their experiences more memorable.
