Custom Kitting to Promote Your Brand

  • May 21, 2021

Promotional products are always a great way to receive brand recognition from your existing clients to potential prospects. With certain campaigns you may want to combine a few products along with a brochure or other marketing materials. The question is, how do you do that efficiently? The answer: kitting or better known as custom swag boxes.

What is Kitting. Simply put, kitting is an opportunity to combine products of different sizes and different sources into one package that drop ships out to your targeted audience. This kit may include branded products with your logo, some snacks and a personalized letter from you. These items come from various sources and in most cases not the same one. This would take an individual a lot of time and effort to package everything up by themselves. With the kitting process, everything is prepackaged into one “box” that is ready to ship at a moment’s notice and is assembled usually in a warehouse using an assembly line process.

Custom Swag Kits have actually become very popular over the last few years, particularly with the pandemic keeping us from attending in-person events. Many event organizers have successfully switched to sending their online attendees kits – or swag boxes – that include items from their sponsors and also provide a personal touch to make them feel more connected to the event.

Key Kit Components. A successful kit needs to be planned out carefully, considering what impact you want to have. Key components should include:

  • Container. The most popular type of container would be a customized box that is shippable. The design of the box is important, as it is the first thing the recipient will see, so you want to make sure you leave a lasting impact. Boxes can be imprinted with your choice of graphics to give it the pop of the unexpected.
  • Packing Materials. Believe it or not, the way the contents are packed is just as important as the products themselves. Choosing between elegant tissue paper, crinkle paper, or customized foam to hold products in place can make or break the experience. I personally like crinkle paper.
  • Custom Inserts. Carefully think out what types of inserts you want to put in your kit. Think about including a brochure, maybe some emoji handheld fans to engage online, and instructions for using the contents, or even a customized letter.
  • Contents. Keep in mind the purpose of the kit, what you want to convey to your audience, and how it reflects your brand.
