Wearable Promotional Items: NOT Just Your Next T-Shirt
Feb 6, 2020
When it comes to wearable promotional items, there are many more alternatives that most people think.
Most people immediately think of t-shirts with the company logo. Historically, that has been a common promotional wearable.
The truth is that wearable promotional products have come a long way over the years. In fact, worldwide shipments of wearable promotional items have increased by 94.6% just in the last quarter alone.
If you haven’t considered wearables in a while, it’s time to take a closer look.
When it comes to promotional products, the wearable category has expanded considerably. In fact, wearables fall into 3 categories:
#1 Promotional Clothing
This is the category that most associate with wearables. Whether it’s your t-shirt or polo shirt, promotional clothing is a great way to get your brand in front of your audience. While t-shirts are probably the go-to item in this category, you can brand pretty much any type of clothing – shorts, jackets, button-down shirts and even dresses to name a few. And these other forms are received with enthusiasm because they are not as commonly given.
#2 Promotional Accessories
Promotional accessories, includes items like caps, backpacks, blankets, scarves and gloves. These are products that people will use over and over again, giving you and your company a shout-out to everyone they run into and keeping you top-of-mind for their next purchase of your product or service.
#3 Wearable Tech
This last category is probably the biggest and fastest growing. With the sophistication of our technology and the ability to actually “wear” it (think fitness trackers, smartwatches, earbuds, etc.), the ability to brand it and use it as a promotional item is huge.
3 Tips For Purchasing Successful Wearable Promotional Products
Keep these three tips in mind as you plan your purchase of wearable promotional products:
- Colors are important. Your goal is to promote your brand, so make sure that you stay within your branding guidelines. When choosing a color (or colors) for your wearables, ask yourself if it is consistent with your brand.
- Stay true to your brand message. As with any promotional item, make sure that your message is in line with your brand and makes sense with the campaign that you are running (e.g., don’t use a scarf when you are promoting or supporting a summer event).
- Keep it simple. When choosing a wearable promotional product – particularly one that involves technology – keep your audience in mind. Don’t choose something that your audience will have a hard time using. Not only will it frustrate them, it will also be what they remember about your brand (and will purposefully not purchase from you).
